Hello,
I am James La Borde. I work in a credit union in La Habra, California, in
the computer room. I am a newlywed, married April 7th of this year to my
beautiful bride Laura at Knott’s Berry Farm. We have two cats and no
children (yet). I am an avid reader, rose gardener and a lapidary. Before
you go running to your dictionary, that means I like to play (cut, polish,
collect, and/or display) with rocks. My favorite is opal. My wife also
works with Access in her job, and knows almost as much about it as I do!

I
have been working with Microsoft Access since I started playing with its
basic abilities when I worked at Knott’s Berry Farm. That was about
1996. I had been there a while and was trying to expand my horizons
beyond my current department. In late 1997, I moved on to the credit
union. I have been involved with Access since I began there. In early
1999 we moved to a new system, EDS CUBE, basically a front-end to a SQL
Server database. I had to learn a whole new database and stretched my
knowledge of Access as I could now link to a SQL Server and access its
databases. I also had to learn SQL Server. I stepped into the wonderful
world of ODBC (Open Database Connectivity). In the last two years, I
have also learned VBA (Visual Basic for Applications), greatly enhancing
my ability to create complex databases. |
