I am a trainer, a writer, a Girl
Scout, and a parent. I enjoy Science Fiction, writing, bad puns, word
search puzzles, and games. I train computers, presentation skills, outdoor
cooking and many other things. I consider myself a Kathy of all trades,
because if I don't know something, I will find out or I will find someone
who does.
Professionally, I
have a 15+-year career as a computer consultant and trainer. I have
worked with clients both large and small, doing training, testing, project
management, writing and editing. I currently run my own training and
consulting business in Phoenix, Arizona. I run three
websites:
OutdoorCook.com,
PowerPointAnswers.com, and
OneNoteAnswers. And, I am a PowerPoint/OneNote Microsoft MVP.
In addition to
building my own websites, I consult on web design and create websites for
other customers. Samples of my consulting can be found at any time by
checking my posts on the PowerPoint newsgroup. (The group is shadowed on
Google Groups. My posts can be found by doing a search on my name at that
site.) I also am available by email and phone via Keen.com or via Yahoo
Advice.
I have worked in
almost all areas of software development during the course of my career.
My favorite areas are testing, training, and technical writing. I will
admit also to a strong preference for requirements writing as well. |

I am fluent in
Windows, Linux, and Macs. I can also communicate with most UNIX boxes,
given enough time to remember what I am doing. While most of my time
consulting and working is spent on Microsoft Office, I personally use Open
Office (either on the PC or on Linux) almost as often. If you were to
visit my house, you would find a wide array of computers ranging from
almost antique startup systems, through a System 36 and a PDP-11, and
clear up to modern PC's. We even own an Alpha and a couple of HP
workstations and SparcStations.
I have written
(but not yet found a publishing home for) several children's stories. For
samples of these stories, as well as some of my more professional
writings, please feel free to contact me.
My husband and I
have been married since 1984. We have one son, who was born in 1988 and
came to us when he was 5 1/2. Life at our house is seldom boring, as we
are all busy with Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, work and life in general.
I love books of
all kinds. I buy everything I can by Anne McCaffery, Madeline Le Engle,
and L. M. Montgomery. Other favorite authors are Isaac Asimov, Piers
Anthony, and Robert Heinlein. I also love to read biographies, cookbooks,
and computer books.
I collect stuffed
animals, with an emphasis on bears, bunnies, and penguins. I love rainbows
and rainbow colored items, they bring me hope.
My life
philosophy can be summed up as:
