 The Dream Pusher
~ Michael Werner, Dream Jobs To Go

Cool Career Find

This month we’ll look at a free ask-a-job-counselor service run by one of the most respected names in the career industry.

If you don’t know about Dick Bolles, you’re in for a treat. Dick is considered by many professionals to be at the top of the heap when it comes to dispensing career information. I consider him to be at THE top. Period. Full stop. The man is a career changer’s god. If you haven’t read his career searcher’s guide called What Color Is Your Parachute?, do yourself a huge favor and run immediately to your nearest bookshop or online bookseller and settle down for a few hours of fun and learning about what you should be doing with the rest of your life.

And, although there’s not a single thing that could be better than Dick’s book, there’s a really nifty and free resource on his website, The Job Hunter's Bible that comes in as a close second. At the site you’ll find an "Email a Career Counselor" button, and it let’s you do exactly what its name implies. You send in your career search query and a member of Dick’s staff (all seasoned career counseling pros) responds.

Using fictitious scenarios, I’ve emailed the career counseling service with different questions and situations, and have received nothing but prompt, efficient, and incredibly helpful advice. This one’s definitely a candidate for the Dream Pusher’s Hall of Fame.

Michael Werner, aka The Dream Pusher, is a writer and publisher who specializes in career and employment issues. You can reach him through his website, Dream Jobs To Go
