Chad’s List of VBA Resources
Books
Excel 2002 Power Programming with Microsoft Excel
By John Walkenbach
Publisher: Hungry Minds, Inc.
ISBN: 0764547992
Absolutely the best reference for VBA. It is geared towards Excel, but
it beats any book designed for generic VBA as well. Simple enough for
beginners to understand, and covers advanced topics for the experts to
review/learn as well.
Access 2002 Developer’s Handbook
By Paul Litwin, Ken Getz, Mike Gunderloy
Publisher: Sybex
ISBN: 0782140114
This series of books is designed for development of applications in
Access. It doesn’t deal entirely with VBA, but a key part of Access
development is in VBA. These books should never leave the side of a serious
Access programmer.
VBA Developer’s Handbook
By Ken Getz, Mike Gilbert
Publisher: Sybex
ISBN: 0782129781
This book has one of the same authors as the previous book. I don’t
recommend reading the book from cover to cover, but it is a great reference
book containing a vast array of topics and examples.
Web Sites
VBA Tutor
http://www.users.bigpond.net.au/gradley/vbatutor/index.html
A great resource for beginning programmers. This site contains lessons
and examples to help you on your way to great VBA programming.
The Spreadsheet Page
http://j-walk.com/ss/
From the same author of Excel 2002 Power Programming with Microsoft
Excel comes this web site loaded with code examples, faqs and even books
and software to buy. I highly recommend his Power Utility Pack or PUP. Not
only will it give you many great tools to use in Excel; it will also give
you an idea of what can be done with VBA. The entire utility was programmed
using VBA.
Remember, the $5.00 offer still stands. Send me a question or idea
that I can use in an issue of Macro Mania and I’ll send you $5.00 if I use
it.
