What's New at Linda's Computer Stop

First of all, let me say HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO ABC!!  Yep, this is our thirteenth issue and it is going out to over 1950 subscribers, so I'd say we had a very successful first year.  Thanks so much to all who make it possible -- both the writers and the readers.  A most special thank you to the Fleet members who have been here since the beginning.  What troopers you are.

Please readers, if you enjoy any article and there's an email link there where the writer has requested your input, please let them know you appreciate them.  Send them your ideas and thankyous.  Remember that I don't pay these people.  They do this for you for free.  Please let them know how much you want them to continue to do this!

Now...on to what's new at my site.  I have been VERY busy this month.  I was hoping to have my Word 201 and Excel 201 eBooks ready to announce in this issue, but I'm running a little behind.  However, I'm hoping to get them done this week, while I'm on spring break from the college, so check here every couple days to see:

I've also added an online form you can copy and mail in if you would prefer not to use your credit card online.

For those who don't know this, me and Fleet member, Vic Ferri have been becoming the best of friends.  And, we decided to pool our complimentary talents.  I'm the teacher and he's the doer.  LOL.  So, check out Side by Side Productions to see some of the cool downloads we offer.  Some are free.  Some ain't.  But they are all good and every penny you spend on this helps to keep my site and this ezine (as well as Vic and I) alive.  Hope you will check back often and see what we've come up with:

And Vic's getting pretty well known.  His newest program, Lock&Hide, is being featured in Neat Net Tricks this month.  And, Jack Teems is offering a real nice deal on it for his subscribers.  And, seems Vic is matching the deal for his WinTips members.  So, even though I know your hearts belong to ABC, you might want to consider subscribing to NeatNetTricks or joining WinTips-Tricks so you can get Lock&Hide for just ten bucks!  What a deal.  And it's really a great little program.

Here's the info on it:

Don't forget the next set of my online classes starts on June 30th at Eclectic Academy.  I'll be teaching Excel 101 and 201, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Word 101 and 201.  Come let me teach you how to enjoy these programs:

Outlines of all the classes here:

I've added the Nerdy Books Tip of the Day to my site.  New tips everyday, that are fun and actually do teach you something.  And they are in cartoon form.  Why don't you make it your homepage so you can start every day with a new tip and a chuckle?

Here it is:

And, more information on the Nerdy Books here:

25% off to all who go there from my website

I wrote a new article for TechTrax ezine that teaches all about the cool things you can do with the Paste Special command in the Office programs.

Here's a copy:

Also, I've gradually been adding some Windows XP links and tips to my Windows page, so you XP Users may find some stuff you like there:

And, of course,

I've also added a few new cool sites to my favorite links page.  Go here and check out the revolving N's.

http://personal-computer-tutor.com/internet.htm

Well, that's about it for new stuff this month.  Thanks for your patronage of my site and ezine.  Drop me a line any time and let me know of any additions you can think of.  I may be busy, but I'm always open to suggestions.

Subscribers' Exclusive Tip

New Fun Stuff in Office XP

Yeah, Yeah, I know Office XP still has some bugs, but most of us agree there are some worthwhile improvements, but that's not what I'm gonna talk about here.  All I want to share with you here are some of the cool little goodies I've discovered.

  • Color coded sheet tabs in Excel.  Right click on any sheet tab and choose "Tab Color"
  • Send/Receive Settings in Outlook.  Go to Tools>Send/Receive Settings>Define Send/Receive Groups and you can set up different times for different email accounts to send/receive mail, so your more important mail can come in more often.
  • Email Merges in Word.  Finally, they work!!
  • PowerPoint Animations.  All I can say is WOW. I don't even know where to start.  So many new choices and finally, PowerPoint has learned the importance of a timeline in animation sequencing.
  • Access Views.  Now, along with Design View and Datasheet View and the other views we are used to, Pivot Table View and Pivot Chart View have been added.  Pretty cool.
  • FrontPage page tabs.  Now when you are working on more than one page at a time, there are tabs that let you easily hop from one to the other.

All in all, I like Office XP. J
Maybe in another column, I'll tell you what I DON'T like.
