ROT-13 is a very simple text encrypting method that works by "rotating" each
letter with the letter 13 places ahead. Therefore "a" becomes "n" (or n
becomes a) Numbers and other characters are ignored. It is most used in
newsgroups to encrypt certain messages (many newsreaders, including Outlook
Express, have options to decode Rot-13). It is also used by Microsoft to
encode the data in the registry Count keys which are used to log PC activity. For more
information see my ABC article on the Count Keys.
