Creating Custom Shaped Pools
(Note: If you have Nightlife, some of this tweaking isn't necessary.)

If you have the Sims 2 without the Nightlife expansion pack, I'm sure you are tired of plain old square pools.  Well, here's a workaround that can give you island pools and pools shaped like Ls, etc.:

1. Make a square pool

2. Hold down your ctrl and shift keys while you drag your mouse pointer along one side of your square pool, then drag outward.  If it's working, you will see a green pool extension as you drag.  If the extension is red, you are dragging in the wrong direction, so try again.

3. Once the green box shows the way you want, release the ctrl and shift keys, then click your mouse one time.  Be sure you release the keys before you click.

4. If done correctly, your pool will now show up.

I made a few houses (in the base game, so they require no expansion packs) with custom shaped pools, including one that has an INDOOR/OUTDOOR pool :-)  Those of you who don't want to make your own custom shaped pools can feel free to look at mine and download them if you like.
