From Geoff in South Korea (2/28/08) ... Deleting Temp Files

Used your 101 for Removing temporary files on my XP.  GREAT - boots like new - AND my wife still loves me as the computer is still working after one of my fixes ( its not always:-))
Thanks for easy clear instructions that work!

From Rich J (2/27/08) ... Deleting Temp Files

I wanted to thank you for the outstanding documentation you have on your site about deleting tmp files.  My son-in-law was having problems with his computer and called me to ask how to do this.  I instead found your site and told him to go to your url and follow your instructions.  He did, and once he completed removing the tmp files, his system worked great.  Thanks again, keep up the outstanding information on your site.

From Matthew Legge (2/26/08) ... Word's Detect and Repair

Just a quick note of thanks. I had the most irritating problem with Word (2003) which thanks to you I have now fixed. For your info, I have a windowcard template (I am in real estate) which comprises my logo, three photos and brief text describing the property. However, when I opened the document, the photos and/or the logo would arbitrarily appear or not appear or sometimes just part of the photo would appear. And then as soon as you try and scroll, the whole lot - except the text - would disappear. Drove me NUTS I can tell you. Anyway, with your advice, I did the "detect and repair" thing which has solved the problem AT LAST!!! So, once again, thanks and I shall probably buy your excel book soon.

From Maria from New Zealand (2/14/08) ... Problems Loading Microsoft Word

You are WONDERFUL!!!  I had problems loading Microsoft Word.  It said I either didn't have enough memory or disk space to run Word.  I found your website and thanks to your clear explanations and examples, I cleared up my problem.  I had been told by a couple of people, that I need a new computer since I have had it since 2000 and I probably don't have enough memory.  Thank you for being a life saver!!!! Your fan in New Zealand!!

From Beth (2/3/08) ... Sims 2

Just adding you to my friends list! I LOVE YOUR STUFF!!!!!

From Peter C (1/31/08) ... Excel Tips and Tutorials

From Suzanne (1/22/08) ... Adding a Logo to an Address Label in Word

Thank you for your help with this link found through google
http://personal-computer-tutor.com/addresslogo.htm

From Ben Rippel (1/10/08) ... Paste Special

Thank you Linda for teaching me about “Paste Special.” I think I’ve used that feature in the past, but it’s been so many years I forgot it was there. I work for a radio station cluster and am trying to get the staff to design things in Publisher (obviously more precise/powerful for print items than PowerPoint) and it’s been tough when people try to copy and paste things – frequently they glitch! Paste Special makes sense, but of course MS had to go and hide it in the edit menu to where one does not see it unless a full drop down is visible. Thank you for the straightforward advice on your site. I will now save myself and our staff up to hours in potential aggravation.

From Brandon (1/7/08) ... General Comments on This Website

Hello! I'm Brandon! I like your site! Pretty design, convinient navigation! Very good!

From "A Fan" (1/1/08) ... Deleting Temp Files

Just a quick fan letter to say THANKS! Your advice on finding (for removal) hidden temp files in XP was terrific, which is to say, it worked. I can't wait to see what other topics you address. Happy new year, and thanks again.

From Jason Rhoden (12/27/07) ... Deleting Temp Files

I know how annoying it can be to have your inbox cluttered with meaningless letters, but I did want to send you a note of thanks for the deleting of temp files tutorial on your site. I'm horrible with things like that, but work with a couple of programs who are notorious for misplacing their temp files and then randomly finding them again at a later date. You've saved me a lot of aggravation and effort burning DVDs of stuff to delete when I actually had plenty of space.

From Luc from Belgium (12/22/07) ... Deleting Temp Files

I clean my pc since long good but what I read today: well thank you so much that you help people one trhis way ... you don't need to excuse you for any damage ... I see that you do this with a good hart! Nota: I did it before as this, *.tmp and than *.chk and than *.log ... this all in safe mode ... because of you I found more!

From Eric (12/11/07) ... Word's Data Key in the Registry

Thanks for your article on troubleshooting Microsoft Word. My old copy of Word 97 had been freezing constantly and driving me crazy, but after deleting the Data registry key all is well. Not even the Microsoft employees on their newsgroups knew the solution.

From David R. Krajec (12/2/07) ... Word Troubleshooting

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I just purchased Office 2003 and installed it and every time I tried to run Word it would take FOREVER to load.  And then three versions would open. I found your web page explaining what to look for, deleted normal.dot, and .... What do ya know?!  I'm back in business. Why can't Microsoft get down to the nuts and bolts as you did?!  I can read FAQ's 'til I'm blue in the face and not find what took me 5 minutes to fix.
You're the best!

From Gil Franz (11/9/07) ... Deleting Temp Files 101

I have taken on board you 'deleting temp files 101' and I would like to say it is terrific. It is unfortunate that I cant give you a stamp of some sort so you can stand out from the rest. I accepted many free programns, only to find after downloading etc., that I had to buy or subscribe before they would erase my faults.  Unfortunately they all look the same, they all say free, it is impossible to tell until you try.  No reply is needed, unless you want me to add something to this. I couldnt be happier, as an amateur this is a fantastic tool. all the very best, take care.

From Tara (11/07/07) ... Missing Word Menu Bar

Thank You so much, had problem with missing word menu bar, tried other web sites and their fixes but nothing changed until u. So now I have word back, thanks so much.

From Josh Page (10/24/07) ... Excel's Hidden Personal.xls File

Thanks a million times. I ran across your description of how to create hidden personl.xls file. It made my day. I don't know why when I reinstalled Excel I lost it but thanks to you its back.

From Melinda (10/24/07) ... Word Wouldn't Work

From Adam Hughes (10/18/07) ... Missing Word Toolbars

I had a problem with missing Word toolbars, I am not very technical so easy to follow instructions were needed. I followed your step by step instructions as my Windows Registry was apparently corrupt. It worked perfectly. Thankyou ever so much as no one else seemed to offer me the solution. Thankyou.

Just wanted to thank you for helping me out with some questions I had about "Word". I found the answers quickly and easily on your site and your writing style is very clear and concise. I read a bit of your blog and I've already put in a good word for you with...fill in the blank, God, Allah, whomever yours happens to be!  I cringe when people say this to me when I'm in a bad space but it is true, this too shall pass. Best of luck

From Matt (9/17/07) ... Word Troubleshooting

Thanks so much for your site. I successfully repaired Microsoft Word using the information provided by you. It was a real life-saver. I'm out of work with four kids, so a donation will have to wait for now, but I wanted you to know how much you helped me today. Thanks again.

From Madelyn Mikkelsen (9/13/07) ... Making Paper Bookmarks in Word

THANK YOU THANK YOU.  I was struggling to make souvenir bookmarks for my 50th HS reunion - 4-5 on a page (to save $$) finally got them, but very unhappy with the spacing, etc. then found your website - MAKE A TABLE YOU SAID.  Here I am using computers since 1983 and I completely forgot to try a table - Anyway, I threw out all the old designs, made new ones with your bookmark tutorial and in a few hours, designed, printed. From Carlos (7/30/07) ... True/False Arguments in VLOOKUP Formulas

Oh my gosh...You are a lifesaver! Do you know I've been struggling with this formula for about 5 days now?  I read through the articles you recommended and was able to figure out the vlookup formula in 5 minutes.  Funny thing is that I had attempted using Vlookup earlier and couldn't get it to work because of my lack of understanding on the optional criteria for True / False. All I can say is a huge Thank you!  Now I can stop sweating over this formula and get the rest of my work done.

From Mandy (7/16/07) ... Adding a Logo to the Return Address in Word

Just wanted to say Thank You! for your quick help on adding a logo to the return address in Microsoft Word.

From Chris (7/11/07) ... General Comments on This Site

I can't donate right now, but I appreciate what you are doing. Unlike so many "tech" discussion sites where the posters do more insulting each other than they do offering good help, your site is actually very useful and helpful. Besides, we need more female computer geeks. Sometimes I feel a lone voice calling in the wilderness!

From Ray (7/6/07) ... Understanding Layers in Photoshop

From George (7/4/07) ... Excel Tutorials

You are a Godess, I worship the ground you walk on... How's that for praise.. I'm a 55 yr old "Klutz". I've dabbled around in Excel, creating spredsheets but always using the basic math formulas, +,-,* and so on. I have tried to learn more, for example "Vlookup", "If" functions, the list goes on and on. I signed up at Josepf Rubin's Excel tips but they all talk over my head. THIS IS THE 1st Time, I can say.... I got it.. Your way of communicating, explaining in layman's terms, well it's nothing short of AWESOME.. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. A grateful follower.

From Tom Ramsell (5/30/07) ... Hyphenation Problems in Word

Hi. I am Tom. I was just looking into some word issues with my dad's computer. He runs Office 2000 and reported that word could not find the hyphenation file. I guess the usual fix is to disable auto-hyphenation according to search results. It doesn't seem to be a serious problem but we were looking into it. The microsoft word troubleshooting page at your computer stop was very helpful in understanding Microsoft Word. I just wanted to let you know I appreciate your knowledge on computer issues like this and your help toward others. Makes me feel like I'm at home in the world. Say, and you know what? My dad appreciates it too! Thank you, and thanks again.

From Jan, technical trainer, Holland (12/12/06) ... Word Freeze-Ups

Just wanted to say, thank you! I lost many hours because my 51 paged MS Word (2003)document would freeze after every 10 keystrokes. I lost hours in the face of a tight deadline. Your trick to copy-paste-all but the last paragraph into a new, fresh doc did the trick.. Thanks again!

From Charmeyn (12/10/06) ... Deleting Temp Files

I just like to say thank you. I came across your site while searching for reason's why my hard drive was being depleted of space.
I have a just a 12 gig drive on my PC and have pretty much the same program's on it and at one time even stored quite a considerable amount of my graphics as that I use as I do web design as a hobby, but in the last year or sore I had to resort to storing these graphics and other important files on burned CD's as my hardrive was running out of space even though I haven't added any new program's , in fact I removed several I wasn't using, which got pretty tedious and, and still my PC's drive space was slowly disapearing that I couldn't even do a defrag.
I was down to as little as 800MB on a 12 Gig and had no idea what could be causing my problem, I thought maybe it was from all the updates for my Anti-virus program or possibly a virus itself or that maybe my hardrive was wearing out.
I do a lot of web surfing and am pretty familiar  with having to delete cookies ind temp internet files; however I felt there were still some files on my PC I wasn't sure would be safe such as files that XP service packs leave behind; but I looked at your instructions on searching for Temp files and to my surprise I found plenty, mostly related to the interenet in fact they were windows/internet logs going back almost 2 years and the file sizes ranged from 1 mb to over 10mb and there was at least 200 of these; and also a file left from my Paintshop program that was 400Mb
So I took your advice and tried just deleting one file and went with the one left from Paintshop and leave in in my recycle bin and then reboot; I ran PS and everything was fine in fact I did a search again to see if a new temp file would be created and noting was so this was probably a file from an older version of PS I had. I then ran another search and worked with a few of the internet log temp files a few at a time, the older ones first, rebooted and computer was fine, so deleted all other internet log files; looked at the properties of my hard drive and to my amazement I gained back nearly 50% 0f my drive space to just over 5Gig's where it should have been when I originally had all my graphics and other files stored on it.
I like to think that I am pretty computer savvy but it is wonderful learning something new or never would have thought of or may known before and have forgotten so I will be sure to pass on this knew bit of info to my friend's who have computer's and are pretty knew at using one themselves.
I also ran a defrag after ridding the temp files from my PC and between your advice and that my computer is also running a little  faster too.
Thanks again and I have definately bookmarked your site and saved my temp file search results to my desktop as a reminder and will do this daily so I get in the habit so hopefully I won't have to deal with this again; it's funny when you tend to forget to do simple little daily procedures on your PC what a mess there is to clean up :)kind of like us ladies when it comes to housework we can't leave that unattended for one day :)

From Cat (10/8/06) ... Excel Tips and Tutorials

GREAT Excel tutorials! Written for those of use who ain't stoopid, but ain't techies either. (I'm a psychologist--looking for ways to automate test analysis.) FYI, once I saw you had written an Excel book, I IMMEDIATELY went to Amazon to purchase it! Many thanks! And if you have a mailing list, PLEASE put me on it for future Excel explanations! Cheers. From Frank (9/16/06) ... Microsoft Office Specialist, Excel 2003 Study Guide

Hi Linda. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I received your MOS Excel 2003 Study Guide about a week ago and have been busy going through it since then in fact, I can't leave it alone :-). I need to be pretty good with Excel as I am treasurer for two charitable/community organizations locally and this seems to be the book for me. From switching it on to manipulating advanced formulas-to macros and much, much more. You are to be congratulated, Linda. I will, of course, be writing a revue in Amazon very shortly.

From Tony (9/14/06) ... Cleaning Up Your Desktop

I've been struggling with my desktop for years now and have even installed several Virtual Desktop utilities... I had given up in frustration and did a little Googling to get to your site... From Mike Irwin (9/6/06) ... Paste Special in Excel and Word

I don't normally use help sites too much - I'm a developer, tech  author, and tech support all in one, so usually people come to me! This time, however, I just couldn't see the tree for walking into it. Your page of info on Paste Special proved just the help I needed. Now it's back to programming .NET 2.0 and monitoring a nuclear reactor ( I don't do rockets any more - honest ! ), and I'm keeping your site on my links list.

From Tina (9/2/06) ... Making Paper Bookmarks in Word

I just want to thank you so much for your tutorial on making bookmarks in Word.  I'm throwing a work baby shower for another teacher at my school and had to come up with favors for the whole staff.  58 favors at an average of $2 each (if purchased) is way too much for my budget, so I was thrilled to find your tutorial.  I made adorable bookmarks without spending much at all.  Thanks again.

I've looked up all kinds of terms and html codes and registry codes and HELP for all kinds of Windows problems... BUT, this is the first time that I can remember ever visiting your site. And it's all due to your site's handy-dandy ROT-13 converter program. Please don't ever lose that nifty little program. Love the rest of it too. ;-)

From Mr. Kimberley Bragg (5/18/06) ... Spyware:

From Patricia E. Lakin (5/10/06) ... Word Crashing:

THANK YOU, LINDA!!!!! You have absolutely made my day's end a total WIN-WIN-WIN!  Before I googled your website this evening,  I was preparing to either take my computer in to be diagnosed tomorrow and have to be without it for possibly 2-3 days OR have to spend umpteen EXTRA dollars for a "House Call".  Thanks to you, my new-found friend, I will not have to do EITHER.  My crashed Word program is FULLY operative, once again...AND within less than 10 minutes...TOPS! I am going to tell EVERYONE I know about your incredible site.  Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!  You are a veritable God-Send!  (PS I was only able to send you a token payment for your services, this time, however, as soon as I can I will be sending you a much more generous 'donation'!!!)

From Suzanne Breedlove (5/9/06) ... Slow Program:

You are so awesome!  Microsoft Word has been slow to open and close for TWO YEARS!!!  I happened upon your site, got rid of the normal.dot files, and bingo -- my document opens in two seconds!!!!  I wish would have found your site a long time ago.  We have a home-based business and my husband, who is not the most computer literate person on the planet, has been threatening to throw the computer out the window on numerous occasions.  I have been telling him it is not the computer -- it must be Word because all of the other programs worked fine.  Now I can PROVE to him it isn't the computer, thanks to you.  Thanks so much for saving the day!

From Emo Saucedo (5/7/06) ... General Website Comments:

I would just like to say your web site and your knowledge kick ass! I have found so much info and learned quiet a lot here. In fact I prefer to visit this website before even considering going to Microsoft.com if ever im having a computer problem. So thank you for everything.

From Sharon (4/30/06) ... Word Documents That Wouldn't Open:

Just a great big thank you!  I couldn't open any of my MS Word documents and your straight forward, clear instructions helped me to identify and solve the problem.  Definitely worth the $25 I donated!

From Jonathan (4/30/06) ... Comments About Linda's Support:

Thank you very very much. I am so impressed by your care and service I cannot thank you enough. As the world goes more and more technical (which is fine) it is losing the ability to communicate and train by the written word and we're losing the culture. You are a fresh breath of air. I was shocked to hear back from you so quickly and in such a thorough manner. You are rare as, well hen's teeth. Because I assumed (incorrectly) that I wouldn't hear back from you for a while I just bought a 2003 version of Word. Further, my IBM portable has only one good feature, and I mean only one. You can completely delete the hard drive and it automatically reloads the factory settings as if you just received the computer. I did that, then installed Word and it is faster than a pistol now. Very very good. The delay before was a good 3 minutes before opening so it must have been a real bug. I doubt fast save could do that much damage, as bad as it is. But whatever, I now have it fixed. Now, how do I make a $25.00 contribution to your site? Do I just go on there and fine where it says to contribute? I imagine so. Again, thank you and I intend to stay in touch.

From Jim Barlow (4/27/06) ... FrontPage Forms That Didn't Work:

Thank you very much linda. I have had a problem publishing a Front Page form (same as this contact form). I have spent 2 weeks emailing backwards and forwards to my ISP. You solved it in 5 minutes. Much appreciated.

From Marcos Harari (4/20/06) ... Problems Caused by Temp Files:

All of sudden my powerful laptop became unstable.  Basically it would not allow me to attach any kind of file to an email (it hung up in every attempt) and later on things got worse:  could not open any Excel or Word file for the program (yes via Windows Explorer).  I spent the day reading about possible causes from Registry problems to reinstalling Office or even "worse", re-installing Windows ! Anyway, to make a long story short, one link took me to another one until I reached your site and something called my attention right away:  how to delete temp files effectively.  Your explanation and step by step guide is simply brilliant and... guess what ?  After I cleaned over 1,500 temp files (almost half of them were quarantined files from my Norton AntiVirus) my laptop went back to normal and I recovered my smile as well. Needless to say, I have bookmarked your site and I will definitelly visit it often. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with all of us !!!

From Melanie Charrier (4/13/06) ... Word Problems:

You are my heroine!!!  I am a 51-year old graduating senior working on my last history essays and I began having problems with Word.  I googled a search on trouble shooting and got your website, followed your suggestions and the problem went away.  Thank you so much, my friend!!  I am unable to donate anything right now, but I will certainly share your website and would like to take one of your online classes when I am out of school (Graduation next month!!) and gainfully employed.  I'm sure I could learn a lot more from you than the jackass who taught the computer science class I took a couple of years ago in which I learned almost nothing.  Thank you again for saving my sanity at a crucial point in the semester.

I would just like to say thank you for this resource, it is excellent and I will definitely be telling everyone I know about it. I am a university student in England and it is only a couple of weeks before I hand in important final year dissertations and Microsoft Word chooses this time of year to mess up! I have very little knowledge of computers but your instructions on how to fix Word are clear, concise and very easy to follow. I managed to fix it myself in a matter of minutes. I hope you don't mind me using this form to thank you for this site; it's just helped to save my degree, not to mention my sanity! Best of luck with all of your enterprises, and thank you again!

From Terence ONeill, UK (3/14/06) ... Deleting Temp Files Fixed the Problem:

I have read and used your advice on finding and deleting all those rubbish temporary files in my Windows 98 : there were a LOT of them. I have kept your Web-page on my favorites for future reference. I've been having a lot of trouble with my anti-virus scan engine failing, mainly on start-up but not always. I use NTL NETGUARD. Deleting these 100's of temp. files may I hope cure the problem. I've had a couple of virus's and a bit of spy-ware, which "I hope" I've now killed off manually and hopefully with your help. Your guidance was nothing short of bloody brilliant. Thanks Linda, you're a genius.

From Merry Bach (3/13/06) ... Word MailMerge Free EBook:

From Cindy Ruben (3/2/06) ... Word Problem Solved and Transferring Data:

Thank you so much!!!! I had a document on Word that I had been working on but I couldn't get the program to open.  My computer crashed five times trying.  I remembered that a while back my Word corrupted but I didn't remember how to fix it. Luckily for me, it wasn't interrupting my internet service so I went on the web to Google and typed in "corrupted word document" and yours was the first link.  I did exactly what you said to do to see if it was the normal.dot file and it opened, so I closed it, searched for it, deleted it and voila!  You are a lifesaver--Thanks for sharing.  I look forward to what other pearls of wisdom are offered on this site.  We are going to get a new computer (finally!) and perhaps there is information that can help me transfer my data. Thanks again!! I hope I am able to leave a donation next time.

From R. J. Raymond (2/12/06) ... Simplicity of Instruction:

I have been fooling around with computers since the early 80's and I must say your article "Deleting Temp Files 101" is the most clear, concise, explicit, etc, etc, etc article I have ever seen. I'm just a senior home user and delight in your simplicity and precise step by step instructions.  So many times the writer "assumes" the reader knows what he or she is talking about and leaves out many steps to reach the goal. It's usually go here and do that without how to get there. I guess the youngsters never heard of our old saying "KISS", keep it simple stupid. Thanks for an excellent article. I shall be visiting your site quite often.

From Paul Billett (2/5/06) ... Clear Instruction:

Thank you for your site, I was having great difficulty in establishing how to select pages by means of a drop down box. Amongst many other sites and people I asked the question was never properly answered. Of course these things are simple when you know how but there are those who don’t want to let you in on the act or so it would seem. Once again thanks for being clear.

From Glen, Mouseworks Computer Systems, Australia (2/2/06) ... Nested IF Statements in Excel:

From Matt (1/11/06) ... Removing Existing Text from a New Document in Word:

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU- I was having a HELL of a time with my MS Word.  Everytime I opened a NEW document, it showed a paragraph from a document that I was writing last week.  WINDOWS XP and their "wonderful" auto update system kicked in while I was making dinner, but in the middle of typing out a resume...  That is when the problem started.  Dell refused to help me unless I paid them, and Earthlink was not much help.  Microsoft was also too expensive.  My finances are so tight right now, and I just could not afford their "advice costs"- thank you...

From Kshitij at Dell (1/5/06) ... Linda's Résumé:

You are a treasure!  I spent over 48 hours searching the internet for a way to make a workable drop down menu list for my Web site in frontpage express.  I know it is a different program than frontpage, but your instructions are the only thing that came close to what I needed. Even the universities that provided instructions on frontpage express forms failed to be as clear and thoroughl.  Being a total novice on a rather low budget, you have no idea how grateful I am to find information that can help me achieve my goal in designing my Web site by myself. Thank you for you help.

Hi! I just wanted to say a big thank you for your site!  It has been a real treat to visit and download.  In this day of consumerism, I think it's a teat to offer free products. I manage a software developing business and we offer both freeware and payware, and we still rarely get to hear the good stuff (which there is more than the bad!  LOL) so I like to offer my thanks and my support where I can for all the good stuff people do! I hope this mail finds you well. Bright Blessings and Best Regards

From Alan (10/06/05) ... My Sims 2 Guestbook Removal:

Hi Linda,  I have a twelve year old daughter that loves playing Sims 2. So I go online to find her new stuff for her game. I've been to different sites downloading clothes, eye color, makeup, and just dif things I'd think she would like. Sometimes I'm right, sometimes not, but I try. I read your explanation as to why you removed your guestbook. It's very sad that some people feel the need to accuse or condemn others when what they are speaking of did not cost them any time at all to create. Opinions are like noses... Everyone has one and some "smell" better than others. Unfortunately however, some don't know how to keep their's to themselves. As far as the removal of your guestbook... YOU GO GIRL!!!

From Omar (10/5/05) ... Crystal Clear Instructions:

I stumbled onto your site via Google -- your word suggestions, for deleting of temp files (I had over 3500 hidden away), but esp the paragraph marker check, helped me locate and cut 15 pages within the middle of a 395 page PhD dissertation that somehow managed to contain over 1000KB of "extra" info that was driving my program, system, and me crazy and crashing everything. Your suggestions have saved me from a further mental-tech breakdown. THANK YOU!!!!!

Thank you so much for helping me with my problem. Your website provided the solution. My MS Word was freezing every time i tried to run it. I tried everything I could .... uninstalling, reinstalling, virus scans ...reboot after reboot ...hours!!!! No solution in sight. So I googled the problem and in 2 minutes i had the solution all thanks to you. I need Word today for my college work and you have really saved my life. I was just about to go insane! Thank You

From Aaron in Los Angeles, CA (7/22/05) ... Word freeze-ups:

Just wanted to take a second to thank you. I have been talking to Gateway techies in Manila for four hours and fifty minutes troubleshooting. After trying one thing then another, their website crashed and I couldn't even talk to them! I am a student and have deadlines and I was desperate. I googled "word freezes" and your site came up. Twenty minutes later, I'm writing you a thankyou. My papers will be on time, without the hackneyed excuse "my computer froze".  You have had a truly positive effect on my life, let alone my day and grade! Thank you so much.

From Nick (7/11/05) ... FrontPage Feedback Forms:

You have the first site that has actually helped me with a feedback page. Keep up the good work

From Greg (7/6/05) ... Deleting Temp Files:

I just printed off three different site's instructions on how to complete a task (ie., Deleting Temp Files 101) and I found yours to be superior in every way.  Easy to understand (loved the explanation "That's asterisk period t m p comma ...").  Totally effective - did what was expected fully. Bonus file to do it again when needed (i put in a folder because i don't want desktop icons).  Excellent 1st time using your site.

From Lovely (6/26/05) ... FrontPage Forms:

Think your site is the one I've been searching for! Google turned up your link when I was trying to delete .tmp files and your site had almost the answers I needed. When I e-mailed you for additional information, the answers were almost immediate! Have just completed this task and enrolled in ABC.  Looking forward to searching your now-bookmarked site for answers to other questions.
I'm fairly computer literate but there are always tasks for which answers are not easily found. Think this is the place to now find those -- easily. Feel free to use this as a testimonial. I'm real "proud" I found you.

From Patrick, Yakima, Washington (1/9/05) ... Unwanted stuff in Word:

Linda I just wanted to thank you for your site. I am a 52 year old truck driver who has been around computers since the Timex Sinclare. I  have never really delved into Word or Access or and other stuff and I decided to have at it. Well I downloaded a business card template from the Microsoft site and ended up with a paragraph symbol and a space bar that made dots. I was stumped so I reinstalled office 2000 and that didn't work. I finally entered in the Google search bar "Microsoft Word problem" and your site popped up and I read about the launching problems on the first page and went to the registry and deleted the data file and away went the dots. Thanks so much! You deserve a raise.

From Bart (1/7/05) ... Word Toolbars missing:

From Simon, Heidelberg, Germany (12/8/04) ... Word problems and Temp File locations:

Hello Linda! I have just spent my night shift looking for a solution to my problem with WORD freezing before loading completely. I had horror visions of having to format the hard drive, reloading stuff and what have you.  Just as well that I was on night shift, I couldn't have slept anyway! Well, I found your site and you had the answer, I am so grateful for that! I had the matter taken care of in 10 minutes! Some time ago a computer friend told me to always make a back-up copy of "normal.dot" but I never really knew why. Once I read your tip about this file getting corrupted, I copied and pasted the back-up file from my Zip Drive Disk after WORD ran fine from the "Start" button just like you suggested. After that WORD started perfectly and my settings and profiles were not even lost. Now I know why I was advised to make a back-up!  Also, about your tip about TEMP files not being where they are supposed to be, how right you are! I found some 350 files everywhere, just not in the TEMP directory. The only snag was finding the "~" (tilde) on my German keyboard, it not being where you said it should be, as I assume you have a US Keyboard.  Now I can go to bed and sleep off my night shift in peace dreaming of
Windows ME (More Errors)!   I have the impression that after deleting all those temporary files, totaling some 250MB, that my PC is a little faster as well.  Again thanks, I have added your page to my favourites list and next time I need help, I know where to look.

From Walter in Baltimore (9/2/04) ... Word problems

Hi Linda, I don't know what the M.A., MOS is after your name --- but thank you thank you.  I had a lockup problem with word and spent several hours yesterday (installed, re-installed, etc) and got to a point where I thought I'd have to re-build the whole system. Then I found you on the web and your idea of deleting the Normal.dot file worked and saved me from jumping off a very high building. By un-installing and re-installing the whole program you'd think problems like this would go away -- wrong.I send you fifteen bucks via PayPal.

From Pam (8/31/04) ... Deleting Temp Files:

Just a note to say thank you so very much for teaching me not only that it's OKAY to delete Temp Files but HOW to go about it! I've bookmarked your terrific and informative site for future reference. Thanks so much for all of the effort you've clearly put into this site to help others!

Thanks again - from a not so sophisticated computer user.
